USERS AND NEED
Roqqu's target users for the platform were individuals in Africa and Europe seeking a secure and easy-to-use digital money management tool. These users found existing platforms overly complex and difficult to navigate, which led to low adoption rates. Our research indicated that they valued intuitive interfaces and robust security features.
We also discovered that regional variations in language and user experience expectations were significant barriers. Simplifying the interface, enhancing security, and providing multi-language support were crucial to meeting their needs and boosting Roqqu's market presence and user satisfaction.

Our Product Owners saw an opportunity to scale Roqqu's presence in Africa and Europe quickly. We were given six months to achieve measurable improvements in user engagement and satisfaction.

Teasing Expansion and UI Revamp
In the fourth quarter of 2022, we focused on redesigning the existing website to tease users about the upcoming expansion. We also revamped the existing UI to unify the experience across the platform. As part of this process, we introduced a new brand language and applied it consistently across all platforms.
We released updates to TestFlight on mobile and staging sites on web, allowing users to test the app and provide feedback.
Whenever new assets were needed for the website, web app, or mobile app, we worked closely with the brand team to fulfil these requests. These efforts aimed to build anticipation and ensure a seamless transition to the new, improved version of Roqqu, reinforcing consistency and enhancing user satisfaction.

Strategic Planning and Initial Design
We began Q1 with strategic planning, discussing features that would be valuable to both the business and the users. This provided a foundation for our efforts throughout the year. We conducted extensive research to understand the specific needs and pain points of our target users. I organized and designed usability testing sessions with users to identify why they were abandoning the platform.
We discovered that users found the existing interface complex and were concerned about security, with some users reporting scams. To address this, our team collaborated closely, iterating on new designs through high-fidelity prototypes.
Working side-by-side with our Development team utilising twice-daily build reviews, we simplified navigation, added clearer labeling, and made interactive elements more visually obvious. These changes significantly reduced the chances of users falling into the hands of scammers. We also introduced new features like gamification to increase user engagement with the app.
By the end of the quarter, we had released updates to TestFlight for user testing and feedback. The final sprint ended ahead of schedule, and we shipped the new update by the month's end. This update not only improved security but also enhanced user engagement, providing a safer and more enjoyable experience on Roqqu.

As a result, Roqqu saw a substantial increase in user adoption in Africa and Europe. The redesign not only resolved usability issues but also opened up new market opportunities, boosting overall growth and establishing Roqqu as a trusted platform for trading and safeguarding digital money.
